Well another season, another London Fashion Week, but this time it was the 25th Anniversary and the talent was stronger than ever. We've selected a few of our favourites - let us know which ones you loved.
Peter Pilotto
One of Londons most exciting new labels, Peter Pilotto, produced a collection that blew us away. Softly constructed jackets, dresses and separates were made in the most beautoful of fabrics - with metallic prints belding seamlessly and giving the garments an ethereal quality. The placment of the prints is what makes the clothes a delight to behold and no doubt fashion-forward women the world over will be desperate to get their hands on most of this collection. Once again Anna Wintour was in the front row, and we are sure she won;t have been disappointed.
MeadhamKirchoff
Contradictions of hard and soft played out at MeadhamKirchoff and models came down the runway to the sound of rain falling - well we are in London! Gliuttering metallic tunics were layered over floaty chiffon dresses and deconstructed pieces reminiscent of Margiela and the Antwerp 6 combined with victoriana and self-titled 'chaotic pleating'. Although still a melancholy collection, as you would expect from these two, flashes of colour and fun and flirty styles stood out and with Anna Wintour in the front row we are sure to see lots more of MK for spring.
Mary Katrantzou
Mary Katrantzou's stunning collection focussed on print - forget screen-printing, this is all about digital computer manipulation - meaning that the weirdest and most wonderful colours/designs can be worked into any number of ideas. From pleats wrapping around dresses to holographic silver panels and hand-blown glass acessories from Peter Layton, the designer produced a collection that really came alive on the body. Surely this is as close to wearable art as you can get?
Christopher Kane
Pretty yet perverted, innocent yet disturbing are the words Style.com used to describe Mr Kanes SS10 show, but depsite all that, it tuned out some looks that are bound to be big for SS10. Gingham has not been seen outside of a school uniform context for as long as I can remember but looking at this collection it is sure to be one of the biggest trends for next spring. That aside, expert craftmanship means the pieces will be wearable and the slash-neck cashmere sweaters are to-die-for. His stunning front row line-up including Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace and Phillip Green was completed by lady of the hour Joan Collins - wouldn't you just love to see her in shoulder-padded Gingham suit?
Louise Amstrup
Opting to do a presentaion with Vauxhall Fashion Scout rather than a full-blown show, is a risky business; no getting away with the odd safety pin here and there, and as a designer you are out en force to meet your judging crowd. Of course, for Lousie Amstrup, this is the no problem; everything is finished to prefecting standards and she is a charming host. Stand-out pieces were the cropped vests, layered over chiffon dresses and draped jumpsuits. The sharp shoulders set everything else off perfectly and the fact that you were close enough to see all the minute detail endeared us even more.
I loved the type ad commenting system very clean and very efficient.
Love to read more from you on the topic above
